Paid inclusion to end by December 31, 2009. Yay!
You know all about Yahoo’s paid inclusion program, don’t you? It’s where you pay to get your site listed at Yahoo…
For some reason Yahoo’s announcement (which I can’t find an official copy of to link to but you can find un-official copies all over the place by searching at Google) makes me incredibly happy.
The end of Yahoo’s paid inclusion program isn’t really a surprise…it HAD to happen. This summer Yahoo announced that they would be using Microsoft’s BING technology to power their search engines…..so of course the Yahoo Paid Inclusion would, by definition, have to disappear. But actually hearing the words come out of Yahoo’s mouth…well it just puts a spring in my step. Is that morbid?
I’ve just never liked the idea of paying for a listing at Yahoo…. Search Engines are supposed to show us relevant links… if I go searching for the best Dog training site, I want the best Dog training site…not the site that has paid to be listed as the best Dog training site.
But I’m a seo Geek though…. What do you think about this move?
